We have a great race report from our very own Cara Rawlinson who took part in a world qualifier race for AquaBike, she not only completed the race but she absolutely smashed it and won her age group. What an achievement! Here is the race report in her own words:
On the 11th June, I competed in the world qualifying AquaBike race. This is a 1500m swim and a 40km bike. I had one goal in mind- to qualify for the world championship next year!
The swim for me didn’t go well, it was complete carnage at the start with swimmers swimming over you, getting arms to the face and being kicked, which made me lose my swimming cap quite early on! My goggles then kept coming off and filling up with water so I had to keep stopping to fix them, but I knew I just had to dig deep and get to the end!
T1 went well, I was pretty quick out of there and on my bike. The bike was decent, I knew my plan and I was passing a lot of people as I knew I had a lot of catching up to do after the swim!
I ended up getting the fastest bike split overall!
Coming back into T2, I was pretty much neck and neck with another athlete so my dismount wasn’t as graceful as I’d have liked, but I ran with my bike, racked it and sprinted to the finish!
I finished 1st in my age group which gives me instant qualification in the Aquabike world championships next year 🤩
I’m absolutely made up with earning my place in the age group GB team next year and I couldn’t have done it without my coach Lesley Gray. She has trained me hard, supported me and has finally made me believe in myself. Phone calls, texts, the consistent feedback I get, the support, motivation and the data she shows me has finally made this dream into a reality.

We are all very proud of you and your achievement, it’s been amazing watching your progression, determination and grit, always with a huge smile on your face which is absolutely infectious. You’re truly a superstar! We can’t wait to see you compete in the Worlds racing in your GB kit!
